Displaying quality and compliance history

Information for National Quality Framework (NQF) providers operating services in Victoria.

From 12 August 2026, all approved providers in Victoria regulated under the National Quality Framework (NQF) must display the quality and compliance history of their services.

This requirement only applies to NQF services in Victoria, including:

  • long day care
  • standalone kindergarten
  • family day care (FDC)
  • Outside School Hours Care
  • vacation care.

It does not apply to occasional care and limited hours services.

What information must be displayed

The display must include the following information:

  • current overall quality rating and most recent rating prior to that
  • 2 years of compliance history (as listed below) and any prosecutions against:
    • approved provider, or
    • nominated supervisor of the service.

To support approved providers to prepare for 12 August 2026, VECRA will provide the previous 2 years of compliance history and their current overall quality rating and most recent rating prior to that which must be displayed at each service.

Approved providers must keep their quality and compliance history display accurate and up to date.

Information must be updated

Any changes to your quality and compliance history must be displayed within 7 days of a change to your quality and compliance history.

Newly approved or transferred services

If a service has been approved or transferred within the last 2 years, it must display prescribed information from the:

  • approval date, or
  • transfer date to the current provider.

Talking to families about your compliance history

We encourage services to talk openly with families about how they are addressing compliance issues. Sharing the actions your service has taken helps families understand how their child’s safety is being supported.

Use this as an opportunity for your service to show its commitment to:

  • transparency
  • continuous improvement
  • safe, high-quality service provision.

Penalties for not displaying compliance history

Failure to properly display the prescribed information as required carries significant maximum penalties.

A court can order the following penalties:

  • $10,200 for an individual
  • $154,800 for a large childcare provider
  • $51,600 in any other case.

VECRA can also issue an infringement notice (a fine), for the following amounts:

  • $1,020 for an individual
  • $15,480 for a large childcare provider
  • $5,100 in any other case.
