Privacy collection notice

As the sector regulator VECRA is collecting the above personal information, to assess and investigate complaints about its staff of actions taken in its capacity as a regulator.

Where VECRA is exercising functions under the Education and Care Services National Law Act (National Law), personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). In all other cases personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and the Public Records Act 1973 (Vic).  

VECRA uses the information you provide to contact you, verify details, request further information, and provide an outcome to the query or complaint. You may choose to remain anonymous; however, this may limit our ability to investigate or respond. If necessary, we will contact you to discuss how the matter will proceed.  

The information you provide will be held by the Operations Branch and may be accessed by authorised personnel from within VECRA who are responsible for addressing your complaint. VECRA may use and disclose personal information as required or authorised under applicable legislation. This may include disclosure to government agencies, departments or law enforcement bodies. We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to prevent or lessen a risk to a person’s health, safety or welfare.
